Hazbin Hotel's Showrunner Is Aware of Your Second Season Bingo Cards — With Some Positive Updates
The highly-awaited Season 2 of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel debuts on Prime Video this week, and fan speculation has been intense.
The first season introduces a large cast of characters residing in Hell and Heaven, pits them against each other accompanied by songs about their clashes, and establishes tense rivalries and emotional bonds that fuel audience devotion.
The community's expectations for the new season differ greatly, but certain themes recur frequently: Could a fan-favorite character break free from Valentino? Will we find out more about the mysterious "deal" constraining Alastor the Radio Demon? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Naturally, I don't make the show with audience demands as the main goal," the creator stated earlier this year. "But I feel like me being a fan of my own show implies there's a lot of it just naturally. I also want to see these things, and I want some of these things to occur, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator reveals her big-picture plan is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have already been green-lit by Prime Video and A24, which finance the series.
That might mean fans have to be patient for some of the major resolutions — but they may be surprised at how fast season 2 progresses, and how many of what they're waiting for happens this season.
"I feel like people are going to get a lot out of it," she adds. "There are several debut moments. I think we get some incredible reveals, some fascinating origin tales, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear much more singing from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
She's certainly aware of the theories and desires about the upcoming season — particularly in the form of fan bingo cards.
"I've come across a few fans create a prediction grid about season 2," she mentions. "Obviously I won't share it, but I've already completed a few items, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season launches on the streaming service on Oct. 29.
