World Series Game 7 Draws 51 Million Viewers Across the US, Canada and Japan Markets.

The exciting extended clash that saw the Dodgers beat the Blue Jays by one run attracted a aggregate 51 million viewers across the US, Canadian, and Japanese markets. MLB announced this represents the highest-rated Fall Classic finale since the 1991 contest featuring the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Viewership Details

The Saturday epic game drew over 27 million viewers on Fox channels, Fox Deportes and their digital services. Per ratings data, it was the second highest-rated program of the previous week.

It also is the most-watched Fall Classic matchup after the 2017 Game 7 between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew over 29 million. This marks a 16% improvement compared to the previous Game 7 between the Washington Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million.

In the Nielsen ratings, Game 6 placed 4th, Game 4 ranked seventh, the fifth game came in eighth, and the third game finished in 13th position.

Global Audience Figures

In Canada, the climactic game recorded 11.6M viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports channel. This was the highest-rated English program in the country after the 2010 edition Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final game started at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it attracted 12 million viewers. This came after the previous Friday’s sixth game – in which Fall Classic MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed a single run in six frames – recorded 13.1 million viewers, making it the highest-rated Fall Classic game on a single network in the country.

Series Averages and Trends

The entire seven-game World Series drew 15.71M viewers on Fox, a two percent increase from last year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This marks the first time since 2015 and ‘16 that the Fall Classic has recorded viewership growth for two consecutive years.

Counting the Game 1 telecast on Univision, the complete US average reached 16.1M. The overall World Series viewership in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1M in the Canadian market.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels drew 8.09 million watchers, an 8% rise compared to the previous year and the network’s best playoff performance since 2017.

Major League Baseball reported that the Fall Classic was broadcast in over 200 nations and regions by 44 media partners in 16 different tongues.
